H.E. Mr. Khaltmaa Battulga, President of Mongolia, delivered a video message to the Leaders’ session of the 2021P4G Seoul Summit which is being held virtually from 30 to 31 May, 2021.
More than 60 heads of state and international organizations are attending the Leaders’ session of the summit which aims to enhance the global partnership for addressing global warming, combating climate change and its threats, achieving the Sustainable Development Goals and promoting green development.
President Kh.Battulga began his message by extending his gratitude to the Government of the Republic of Korea for organizing this summit in these difficult times when every country in the world was fighting with the pandemic and emphasized that the basic and most effective way to protect our planet was to limit global warming to 1.5 degrees Celsius. Furthermore, he pointed out that the implementation and concrete results were extremely unsatisfactory despite many negotiations and ambitious goals over the past several years to combate climate change, reduce environmental degradation and conserve the nature. The President called on all countries to take decisive, effective and concrete actions to transform their economic recoveries after the pandemic into the environment friendly “green” model and start to fulfill our commitments made before the international community while every country was overcoming the pandemic with less damage.
This year’s summit is hosted by the Government of the Republic of Korea. The summit, which was originally scheduled to be held in 2020, was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
