During her official visit to Canada, Foreign Minister of Mongolia B.Battsetseg paid a courtesy call on the Honourable Greg Fergus, Speaker of the House of Commons of Canada and exchanged views on the promotion of bilateral relations between Mongolia and Canada.
Minister B.Battsetseg noted that the relations with Canada, an important partner and “third neighbour” of Mongolia, has been growing rapidly based on common values, and that the cooperation between the two Parliaments and the Parliamentary Groups plays an important role in strengthening the bilateral ties between the two countries.
The Honourable G.Fergus warmly welcomed Minister for Foreign Affairs of Mongolia B.Battsetseg, and noted that this was the second time he is hosting a Foreign Minister of a foreign country.
Minister B.Battsetseg highlighted that her visit will provide an opportunity to review the achievements of the past 50 years of cooperation between Mongolia and Canada, and exchange views on future prospects within the framework of a Comprehensive Partnership.
Furthermore, Foreign Minister noted that Mongolia is looking forward to further expand bilateral cooperation with Canada in areas of economy, education, climate smart agriculture and clean energy. Minister Battsetseg emphasized the importance of Parliamentary support in strengthening the legal environment between the two countries, including establishment of an “Air Transport Agreement”.
Speaker G.Fergus expressed his confidence in further consolidation of bilateral ties and continuation of dialogue with Mongolia in various areas of cooperation including feminist oriented foreign policy and promotion of gender equality and women’s participation in leadership and decision-making.
