The World Export Development forum, which is hosted by Government of Mongolia with support of International Trade Center under the auspices of the President of Mongolia, started on June 26, 2023 with Landlocked Developing Country business talks.
The inaugural speeches at the World Export Development Forum were delivered by H.E. Ms. Battsetseg Batmunkh, Minister of Foreign Affairs, H.E. Rabab Fatima, Deputy Secretary General of the United Nations and High Representative of the United Nations for Least Developed, Landlocked Developing and Small Island Countries, Ms. Pamela Coke-Hamilton, Executive Director of the International Trade Center, H.E. Mr. Bunthong Duangsawan, Deputy Minister of Trade of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic, and Mr. Tapan Mishra, UN Resident Coordinator.
On the margin of the World Export Development Forum, the Office of the United Nations High Representative for Least Developed, Landlocked Developing and Small Island Countries (UN-OHRLLS) organized LLDCs National focal points annual meeting. A total of 23 National focal points participated in the meeting to address the challenges faced by LLDCs and discuss post pandemic economic recovery. Additionally, the meeting aimed to prepare for the upcoming 3rd UN Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries, scheduled to take place in Rwanda in June 2024, where these nations will deliver their common voice.
On the inaugural day of the World Export Development Forum, wool, cashmere, leather, and information technology sector’s B2B meetings took place and over 110 domestic and foreign companies participated. Furthermore, as part of the forum, an exhibition showcasing export-oriented products from small and medium enterprises will be held at Sukhbaatar Square.
The official opening ceremony of the World Export Development Forum is scheduled for tomorrow, June 27, at 9 o’clock.
