THE THIRD POLITICAL CONSULTATIONS BETWEEN THE FOREIGN MINISTRIES OF MONGOLIA AND CROATIA WERE HELD

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Mongolia and the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Republic of Croatia held the Third political consultations on April 17, 2023 in Zagreb, Croatia.

The political consultations were co-chaired by Mr.Ankhbayar Nyamdorj, State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Mongolia, Mr.Frano Matušić, State Secretary, and Mr. Petar Mihatov, Directorate-General for Political Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Republic of Croatia.

The sides discussed the current bilateral relations and cooperation between Mongolia and Croatia and exchanged ideas on further developing cooperation in political, economic, education, culture, transportation, and environmental sectors. Mongolian side proposed to expand cooperation in the tourism industry within the framework of the “Years to visit Mongolia”. Moreover, two sides emphasized cooperation in the field of combating climate change and the draft “Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in the forestry sector” was presented by the Croatian side.

State Secretary Mr. Ankhbayar Nyamdorj held talks in Zagreb with Mr. Radovan Fuchs, Minister for Science and Education of Croatia, and discussed cooperation in the fields of education and science. On this occasion, sides signed the “Memorandum of Understanding on the Cooperation in the Field of Higher Education”, enabling up to 5 Mongolian students to study in Croatia on scholarships each year. Currently, 5 Mongolian students are studying in Croatia.

State Secretary Mr. Ankhbayar Nyamdorj had also met with Mr. Luka Burilović, President of the Croatian Chamber of Economy, and discussed opportunities for economic cooperation, boosting the existing ties between the businesses of the two countries and organizing a joint business forum. Moreover, in meeting with representatives of the Ministry of the Sea, Transport, and Infrastructure of Croatia, Mongolian side presented the request to sign an “Agreement between the Government of Mongolia and the Government of the Republic of Croatia on International Road Transport of Passengers and Goods” in the near future.

 

This year marks the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Mongolia and the Republic of Croatia.
