THE SECOND MINISTERIAL CONFERENCE ON REGIONAL ECONOMIC COOPERATION AND INTEGRATION IN ASIA AND PACIFIC HELD IN BANGKOK

The Second Ministerial Conference on Regional Economic Cooperation and Integration (RECI) in Asia and the Pacific, co-hosted by the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) and the Asian Development Bank (ADB), was held in Bangkok on 21-24 November 2017.

 

During the Conference ministerial and high-level government officials, representatives from International organizations as well as from private sectors and academia discussed challenges and proposed recommendations to enhance RECI and opportunities to effectively support and contribute to the implementation of the 2030 Agenda. Participants adopted Ministerial declaration on enhancing regional economic cooperation and integration to support the implementation of the 2030 Agenda in Asia and the Pacific. 

Head of the Mongolian delegation to the Conference on RECI, H.E. Mr. Davaasuren Damdinsuren, State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Mongolia participated as a key speaker in the Ministerial panel on the role of regional economic cooperation and integration in supporting the implementation of the 2030 Agenda in Asia and the Pacific and Policy Seminar on the Belt and Road Initiative co-hosted by ESCAP and China. 

Moreover, on the sidelines of the Conference he met with Dr. Shamshad Akhtar, Undersecretary-General of the United Nations and Executive Secretary of ESCAP and discussed the issues related to Mongolia-ESCAP cooperation.
