The Second Committee meeting of the United Nations General Assembly 75th Session has commenced on October 5 2020, during which important issues such as accelerating the implementation of the sustainable development goals in overcoming the current global economic and social difficulties caused by the COVID-19 pandemic are being discussed in addition to the discussion of the current challenges and difficulties of the special needs countries.
During the committee’s General Debate which continued on October 8th, 2020, the permanent representative to the United Nations from Mongolia Mr.V.Enkhbold spoke on the current policies initiated by the government of Mongolia, aimed at sustainable social and economic development, in addition to the actions and measures taken in overcoming the economic and social difficulties caused by the global pandemic.
He noted that Mongolia seeks to strengthen cooperation with her neighbors as well as with other countries and increase its participation in the regional economic integration and emphasized the importance of the “International Think Tank for Land Locked Developing Countries”, a think tank initiated by Mongolia, for the sustainable development efforts of the developing countries and appealed for the participating parties, development partners and all the member states to support the activities of the think tank.
