The official visit of the UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres to Mongolia from August 8 to 11, 2022, at the invitation of the President of Mongolia Mr. Ukhnaagiin Khurelsukh, has successfully concluded.
During his visit, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres made a call on the President of Mongolia Mr. Ukhnaagiin Khurelsukh, and met with the Speaker of the State Great Khural (Parliament) of Mongolia Mr. Gombojavyn Zandanshatar, Prime Minister Mr. Luvsannamsrain Oyun-Erdene and Foreign Minister Ms. Batmunkhiin Battsetseg.
Secretary-General Antonio Guterres also participated in a tree planting event in support to “Billion Trees” campaign, launched at the initiative of the President of Mongolia Ukhnaagiin Khurelsukh, in the Grove of Peacekeepers at the National Park.
He also visited the UN House, where he got acquitted with the activities of the International Think Tank for Land Locked Developing Countries, established at the initiative of the Government of Mongolia.
Secretary-General Antonio Guterres was presented by children with the original copy of the UN Charter in Mongolian script written by young calligraphers, attended a mini Naadam festival and visited a nomadic family to learn about Mongolian culture and customs.
At the end of his visit to Mongolia, UN Secretary General A. Guterres will leave for the Republic of Korea.
