THE EMBASSY OF MONGOLIA IN BANGKOK TAKES PART IN CO-ORGANIZING PHOTO EXHIBITION TO COMMEMORATE THE VICTORY OF ANTI-FASCIST COALITION IN THE SECOND WORLD WAR

The Embassy of Mongolia in Bangkok took part in co-organizing a photo exhibition in commemoration of the 73rd Anniversary of the Victory of the Anti-Fascist Coalition in the Second World War together with the Embassies of the Russian Federation, the People’s Republic of China and the Republic of Kazakhstan. The opening ceremony of the exhibition was held on 9 May 2018 at the United Nations Convention Centre in Bangkok. Mr. Hongjoo Hahm, Deputy Executive Secretary of   the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP), H.E. Mr. Kirill Barsky, Ambassador of the Russian Federation, H.E. Mr. Lyu Jian, Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China, H.E. Ms. Raushan Yesbulatova, Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan and H.E. Mr. Tugsbilguun Tumurkhuleg, Ambassador of Mongolia delivered their welcoming remarks at the event.

In his opening remarks, H. E. Mr. Tugsbilguun Tumurkhuleg, Ambassador of Mongolia spoke about the country’s contribution to the victory of the Soviet people over German fascism during the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945 and the Mongolian People’s Revolutionary Army’s participation along with the Soviet Red Army in liberation of north-eastern China from Japanese militarists in August 1945. Ambassador concluded his speech by emphasizing the importance of remembering all those heroes who put their lives on the front line to defend our freedom and independence by defeating militarism and fascism as those heroic events are becoming distant each year.

The opening ceremony of the exhibition was attended by Ambassadors of Cuba, Czech Republic, Egypt, Hungary, Germany, Lao PDR, Luxemburg, Nepal, Pakistan, Panama, Portugal, Slovakia, Sri Lanka and Vietnam, senior diplomats from Embassies of Bhutan, DPRK, India, Indonesia and Malaysia, as well as representatives of Thai public and other distinguished guests. The program of the event also included recital of the Russian Ambassador’s poem on the war and cultural performance by students of the Russian Embassy’s School.
