THE BUREAU MEMBERS OF THE GROUP OF LANDLOCKED DEVELOPING COUNTRIES BRIEFED THE UNITED NATIONS SECRETARY-GENERAL H.E. MR. ANTONIO GUTERRES

The Bureau members, including Ambassadors and Permanent Representatives of Armenia, Burundi, Botswana, Lesotho, Mongolia, Nepal, Paraguay, and Rwanda, with Ms. Rabab Fatima, High Representative for the Least Developed Countries, Landlocked Developing Countries and Small Island Developing States briefed the United Nations Secretary-General Mr. Antonio Guterres on 15 March 2024.

During the meeting, Dr. Gladys Mokhawa, Permanent Representative of Botswana and Chair of the Group of LLDCs, along with Mr. Ernest Rwamucyo, Permanent Representative of Rwanda representing the host country, provided comprehensive details on the preparatory work and modalities of the Third UN Conference on LLDCs to be held on 19-22 June 2024 in Kigali.

In addition, Mr. Enkhbold Vorshilov, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Mongolia as Co-chair of the Intergovernmental Preparatory Committee for Third UN conference provided updates on negotiation process for the outcome document.

Mr. Antonio Guterres, the United Nations Secretary-General commended the successful preparatory work for the Third UN conference for LLDCs and underscored his support for amplifying the voices of LLDCs in identifying key targets for the development Programme of Action for next decade, aiming at accelerating the development of those countries in special needs.
