THE 74TH LOCARNO FILM FESTIVAL WILL TAKE PLACE IN LOCARNO, SWITZERLAND FROM AUGUST 4-14, 2021

Mongolian director Ikhbayar Urchuud and producer Nomintuya Baasankhuu have been selected to participate in the Open Doors Programme’s Open Doors Hub section, which introduces filmmakers’ work to international investors and assists them in fundraising for the film projects. Director Bat-Amgalan Lkhagvajav has been selected to participate in the Open Doors Lab workshop on understanding the international film market, screenplay writing and collaboration with other film professionals.

Mongolian filmmakers secured 3 of 7 awards during the award ceremony of the last year’s edition of the Open Doors Programme. Mongolian director Lkhagvadulam Purev-Ochir and producer Ariunaa Tserenpil’s film “Ze” won the top prize at the Locarno Film Festival’s Open Doors programme. Director Lkhagvadulam Purev-Ochir was also awarded with “Moulin d’Ande-Ceci” award for the same film project.

Also, producer Uran Sainbileg was awarded with the Rotterdam Lab Award and opportunity to take part in the Rotterdam Lab 2021 workshop and exchange experiences with other international professionals.

The Open Doors programme, which has been running for 19 years with the support of the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) of the Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs (FDFA), is showcasing filmmaking from the Southeast Asia and Mongolia during the 2019-2021 period. This is the last year that Mongolia will be participating as the focus country in this Programme.
