Director-General of the Multilateral Cooperation Department of the Foreign Affairs Ministry, Ms. D.Gerelmaa participated in the Third Committee meeting of the General Assembly 76th session and delivered a virtual statement on October 7, 2021.
Director-General Ms. D.Gerelmaa introduced the Government of Mongolia’s comprehensive measures taken in regard to the protection of human rights, promotion of social development and fight against the pandemic. Moreover, Director-General noted that in order to bring the public services closer to its citizens, in addition to reducing bureaucracy and corruption, at least 90 percent of the public services would be included in the “Electronic Mongolia” platform during 2021-2024, where Mongolia is striving to become a “Digital Nation” with all of its public services digitalized.
Director-General also emphasized that Mongolia became the first country in Asia to adopt a new Law on the Legal Status of Human Rights Defenders, which was ratified by the Parliament in April of this year. Furthermore, Director-General reaffirmed Mongolia’s commitment to implement the recommendations delivered in the Report of the Working Group on the Universal Periodic Review discussed during the 46th Session of the Human Rights Council.
