STATE SECRETARY WORKS IN CANADA

Mr.D.Davaasuren, State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, is paying a working visit to Canada on January 23-25, 2019. State Secretary met with Mr. Donald Bobiash, Assistant Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs of Canada, and exchanged views on current state and further expansion of traditional, friendly relations and comprehensive partnership existing between Mongolia and Canada.

During the meeting, parties have agreed to organize the VIII Round-Table Meeting in Ulaanbaatar; to come up with cooperation roadmap; to upgrade the partnership level, to establish consultative mechanisms between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs; and to continue multilateral and regional cooperation. The Canadian side expressed its appreciation for the invitation to participate in the Ulaanbaatar Dialogue on Northeast Asian Security Conference, to be held in June 2019.

The Canadian side also highlighted the successful joint commemoration of the 45th Anniversary of establishment of the diplomatic relations between Mongolia and Canada.

The State Secretary met with Mr.Benoit Daignault, President of Export Development Canada (EDC), he has presented the letter from the Minister of Mining and Heavy Industry. They have talked about the Canadian investments into Mongolia through EDC and the possibilities to increase trade and investment in the future.

Mr.Davaasuren also had a meeting with Mr. Duane McMullen, Director General of Trade Operations in Global Affairs Canada, as well as Mrs. Sarah Taylor, Director General North Asia and Oceania in Global Affairs Canada, and have discussed further goals of bilateral relations and cooperation; extension of traditional, friendly relations and comprehensive partnership; and establishment of Mongolian trade mission in Canada.
