The 11th Asia-Pacific Forum on Sustainable Development is being organized from 20-23 February 2024, under the theme “Reinforcing the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and eradicating poverty in times of multiple crises: The effective delivery of sustainable, resilient and innovative solutions in Asia and the Pacific” in Bangkok, Thailand.
During the forum, organized by UNESCAP, the delegates will deliberate on the regional implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, focusing on policy solutions addressing interconnected issues, including climate change, poverty, peace, justice and partnership. Moreover, the delegates will discuss accelerating the implementation of SDGs and sharing best practices and national-level activities.
On the first day of the forum, Mr. N. Ankhbayar, State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, participated in the high-level meeting and emphasized that the event serves not only as a crucial platform for regional implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development but also as a significant preparatory stage for the Summit of the Future, scheduled to be held in September 2024. The Secretary highlighted national contributions to global efforts in achieving the SDGs, along with the government’s policies and initiatives.
On the sidelines of the forum, State Secretary Mr. N. Ankhbayar held bilateral meetings with Ms. Amina J. Mohammed, Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations; Ms. Armida Alisjahbana, Executive Secretary of UNESCAP; and Ms. Alia El Yassir, UN Women Regional Director for Europe and Central Asia. He provided updates on the preparations for the World Women’s Forum, scheduled to be held on 22-23 August 2024, and discussed potential areas of cooperation.
