D.Davaasuren, State secretary of Ministry of Foreign Affairs met with Sarah Taylor, Director General of North Asia and Oceania Bureau at Global Affairs Canada and exchanged views on relations and cooperation between Mongolia and Canada on 30th of May 2017.
Along expressing satisfaction in expanding and strengthening bilateral relations and cooperation each year, both sides have emphasized the importance of regular mutual high level visits and cooperation consultative mechanisms. State secretary D.Davaasuren highlighted the investments made by the experienced Canadian companies in Mongolian mining sector and their thriving operation, and he has stressed out the willingness to learn, to share experience and to expand the cooperation with Canadian well-developed agricultural sector, the country which Mongolia has similar climate with. Also, he has pointed out the effective implementation and has extended gratitude for the outcomes of projects on strengthening civil service, increasing the involvement of women in parliament, encouraging the transparency of public sector and improving the extractive sector management.
Mrs. Sarah Taylor is satisfied with the cooperation between Canada and Mongolia, particularly with efficient execution of Development Assistance program by the Canadian Government and she informed that the Government is renewing their program policy. The new policy focuses on encouraging the participation of girls and women in society and on ensuring the gender equality, and expressed her interest to work together in these fields. Director General accentuated her willingness to collaborate and to continue supporting each other at the international stage, especially within the UN frame.
