During the First Committee meeting of the 79th session of the UN General Assembly, which was held on 1 November 2024, the draft resolution on “Mongolia’s international security and nuclear-weapon-free status” was adopted by consensus.
H.E. Mr. Ankhbayar Nyamdorj, Permanent Representative of Mongolia to the United Nations delivered a statement introducing the draft resolution and noted that Mongolia’s internationally recognized nuclear-weapon-free status is a substantial contribution and effort by Mongolia to build a nuclear-weapon-free world.
Mongolia has been tabling the resolution since 1998 biennially and this year, total of 36 Member states have co-sponsored the “Mongolia’s international security and nuclear weapon-free status” resolution.
