UNICEF Representative to Mongolia Mr. Heikens presented his Letter of Credentials to the Foreign Minister of Mongolia H.E. Mr. Tsend Munkh-Orgil.

During the meeting with the UNICEF Representative, the Foreign Minister discussed the Government’s policy on social development, child protection and its challenges, and further exchanged views on cooperation between Mongolia and UNICEF.

Since 1963 UNICEF has been closely cooperating with the Government of Mongolia in achieving the socio-economic goals of Mongolia. UNICEF Mongolia implementsprogrammes and projects with a view to improve child protection, basic social services, child health, education andchild-friendly environment.

 Mr. Heikens, a national of the Netherlands, is specialized in Environmental Sciences. He has been providing overall leadership in developing and implementing UNICEF’s policy on climate change and environmental issues.
