On 1 November 2023, President of Mongolia U.Khurelsukh and his spouse L.Bolortsetseg arrived in Hanoi for a State Visit to the Socialist Republic of Vietnam. They were warmly welcomed by Le Khan Hai, Head of the Office of the President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, J. Sereejav, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Mongolia to the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, and other officials from both countries at Noi Bai International Airport
Diplomatic relations between Mongolia and the Socialist Republic of Vietnam were established on 17 November 1964, and this visit is being held on the eve of the 70th anniversary. Notably, this marks the first visit by a Mongolian Head of State to Vietnam in 10 years since 2013.
Historically, high-ranking officials from both sides have been engaged in reciprocal visits. From the Mongolian side, Y.Tsedenbal, the First Secretary of the Party Central Committee of Mongolia in 1959, and the Chairman of the Council of Ministers of Mongolia, P. Ochirbat, the President of Mongolia in 1994, N. Bagabandi, the President of Mongolia in 2005, and Ts. Elbegdorj visited the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, respectively.
From the Vietnamese side, President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam Ho Chi Minh in 1955, President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam Chiang Duc Lyong in 2000, President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam Nguyen Minh Chiet in 2008, and Vice President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh in 2017 visited Mongolia.
