PRESIDENT U.KHURELSUKH RECEIVES PRIME MINISTER OF VIETNAM

During his state visit, President U.Khurelsukh underscored the pivotal role of relations and cooperation with Southeast Asian countries in Mongolia’s foreign policy towards Asia and the Pacific region. He expressed satisfaction with the successful talks and negotiations with President Vo Van Thuong of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, expressing confidence in the close collaboration between the two governments to implement the agreed-upon initiatives during the visit. The leaders jointly announced the elevation of bilateral relations to the level of a ‘Comprehensive Partnership’ in the coming year.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh expressed his pleasure in cooperating on the solemn celebration of the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Mongolia and the Socialist Republic of Vietnam in 2024. Furthermore, he conveyed his desire to organize joint events aimed at strengthening the close friendship of the people within the framework of the 70th anniversary and to open a new historical chapter of cooperation.

The Mongolia and Vietnam Intergovernmental Commission was recognized as a crucial mechanism to discuss and promote genuine cooperation in trade, economy, and investment. Both parties emphasized the importance of developing business and supporting regular trade between entrepreneurs of the two countries.

The parties welcomed the intensification of mutually beneficial trade and economic cooperation between the two countries and expressed their commitment to cooperating in the removal of transport and logistics barriers. They also discussed expanding air connections, increasing tourism, and promoting citizen exchange through direct flights.

Furthermore, to enhance trade and streamline transportation, both parties agreed to facilitate a tripartite meeting among the Ministers of Mongolia, Vietnam, and China responsible for road transport, and committed to cooperating in the development of transit ports based on railways in the appropriate direction.
