At the invitation of President of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic Thongloun Sisoulith, President of Mongolia U. Khurelsukh is paying a State Visit to the Lao People’s Democratic Republic on November 5-7, 2023. On November 6, 2023, President U.Khurelsukh and his spouse Bolortsetseg Luvsandorj laid a wreath at the Monument of Unknown Soldiers.

The Monument, located in Vientiane, the capital of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic, was erected on January 7, 2009, to honor the soldiers who died in the Laotian Civil War. The construction of the Monument, which stands 20 meters tall and 36 meters wide, took six months to complete.

On Lao Independence Day, Heads of State and Government of Laos lay a wreath at the Monument of Unknown Soldiers. It is a tradition for Heads of State and Governments of foreign countries who arrive in the country on a visit to lay wreath to pay respects to the Monument.
