PRESIDENT OF MONGOLIA MEETS WITH UNDP ADMINISTRATOR

The President of Mongolia Ukhnaa Khurelsukh had a meeting with the UNDP Administrator Akim Steiner on 21 September 2021 in New York.

During the meeting, views to further strengthen cooperation between Mongolia and the UNDP were exchanged. The President highly appreciated the UNDP for its significant support and long-held partnership towards Mongolia’s social and economic development. The President expressed his confidence that the new Country Program for next 5 years will be successfully implemented as focusing on the sustainable development goals, in particular poverty reduction, climate change, natural resource management, good governance and digital transition, in aligning with the Mongolia’s long-term development policy “The Vision-2050” and the Government’s priorities.

The Administrator underlined the UNDP’s readiness to cooperate in realizing the initiatives by the President including planting trees for maintaining a balance of nature, reducing desertification and implementing eco-green investment projects.

The two sides highlighted that the UNDP Accelerator Lab network and its activities will contribute to digitalizing public services in Mongolia and becoming a “Digital Nation’ and agreed to further strengthen the cooperation in this field.

The President extended an invitation to the UNDP Administrator to visit Mongolia on the occasion of the 60th Anniversary of Mongolia’s membership to the United Nations.
