PEACE CORPS VOLUNTEERS WILL RETURN TO MONGOLIA

State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs N. Ankhbayar received Chargé D’Affaires a.i. of the United States Embassy in Mongolia Matthew Ference and Country Director of Peace Corps Mongolia Kim Mansaray on October 13, 2022.

During the meeting, the U.S. side expressed gratitude to the Mongolian side for the continuous support of the Peace Corps activities in Mongolia and informed that the Peace Corps Volunteers who returned home due to the COVID-19 pandemic are coming back to Mongolia this October 18 to resume their activities. The first round of volunteers will consist of 27 people, and their activity will mainly focus on English education and community development.

2021 marked the 30th anniversary of the establishment of the United States Peace Corps program in Mongolia and the arrival of its first volunteers. More than 1,400 Peace Corps Volunteers have served in more than 150 soums of all 21 provinces of Mongolia, making a valuable contribution to the social development of Mongolians, especially in English language education.
