During the 17th session of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, which is taking place in New York from 11 to 13 June, 2024, the election of the members of the UN Committee on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD) for the term 2025-2028 was conducted by the secret ballots.
Ms. Gerel Dondovdorj, General coordinator of the Mongolian Disability Forum and a member of the CRPD for the term 2021-2024 was re-elected with majority vote and will continue her tenure until 2028.
The UN Committee on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities is responsible for overseeing the implementation of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities and has 18 members, elected for four-year term. The members of the Committee shall act in accordance with the principles of independence, non-discrimination, high morality and specialization in human rights issues.
