Mr. Ankhbayar Nyamdorj, State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Mongolia met Mr. Weldon Epp, Assistant Deputy Minister (Indo-Pacific), Global Affairs Canada on 7 November, 2023.

During the meeting, State Secretary N.Ankhbayar noted that this year Mongolia and Canada are commemorating the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations, and underlined that Mongolia attaches high importance in further expanding trade and economic cooperation with Canada, an important “Third Neighbor” of Mongolia, as well as in further strengthening cooperation in the field of agriculture, education, environmental protection and tourism.

Assistant Deputy Minister Weldon Epp expressed his pleasure to visit Mongolia on the semicentennial anniversary of diplomatic relations between two countries, and to participate in the Mongolia-Canada Roundtable Meeting. He also noted that Canada attaches high importance to the expansion of bilateral cooperation in areas beyond mining.

In addition, the sides exchanged views on the possibilities of cooperating within the framework of the “Indo-Pacific Strategy”, which was announced by the Government of Canada in 2022.

Assistant Deputy Minister Weldon Epp will co-chair the 10th Mongolia-Canada Roundtable Meeting, which will be held on 9 November 2023 in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia.
