Mongolian Philharmonic Morin Khuur Orchestra and Uzbek State Academic Orchestra of Folk Instruments Perform Joint Concert

During Mongolia’s President Ukhnaa Khurelsukh’s state visit to Uzbekistan, the Morin Khuur Orchestra, State Philharmony of Mongolia performed with Uzbekistan’s State Academic Orchestra of Folk Instruments at the Palace of International Forums “Uzbekistan” on June 25, 2024.

 

The joint concert, hosted under the auspices of both heads of state, commenced with remarks by Mongolia’s Deputy Prime Minister S. Amarsaikhan and Uzbekistan’s Deputy Prime Minister Jamshid Khodjaev. Deputy Prime Minister S. Amarsaikhan expressed pleasure that the Morin Khuur Orchestra is performing in Tashkent for the first time, sharing melodies inspired by Mongolia’s endless blue skies and expansive plains, and fostering shared memories. He underscored the concert’s pivotal role in further strengthening bilateral relations.

Nearly 1,500 audience, including representatives from the local Government, business community, heads of foreign diplomatic missions, and Mongolian citizens, enjoyed a concert featuring a repertoire of 21 compositions blending Mongolian and Uzbek music.

Since its founding in 1992, the Morin Khuur Ensemble has performed over 3,000 concerts domestically and 95 performances across 21 countries worldwide, promoting Mongolian culture on the global stage. The Morin Khuur Ensemble’s exceptional contributions were recognized with the prestigious “Chingis Khan” First Class Order. In 2024, the ensemble expanded into the Morin Khuur Orchestra.

Through Mongolia’s diplomatic missions abroad, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has facilitated the Morin Khuur Ensemble’s performances at prestigious venues such as NHK’s Grand Hall in Japan, the Sydney Opera House in Australia, the Royal Opera House in Versailles, France, the Debussy Hall at Nantes Conservatory, and the “Jaguar Grand Hall” at the Shanghai Symphony Orchestra, successfully showcasing Mongolian cultural richness worldwide.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Mongolia is committed to enhancing the country’s international prominence by leveraging its rich cultural tapestry. It cultivates cultural diplomacy and cooperation with countries around the, aiming to consolidate Mongolia’s foreign policies. Within this framework, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs appoint Cultural Envoys of Mongolia, individuals tasked with promoting Mongolian history, art, and culture on the global stage. The Morin Khuur Ensemble was appointed as a Cultural Envoy in 2022.
