Mongolia has just joined in the multinational nomination file ‘Nawrouz, Novruz, Nowrouz, Nowrouz, Nawrouz, Nauryz, Nooruz, Nowruz, Navruz, Nevruz, Nowruz, Navruz’ upon the decision of the Intergovernmental Committee for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of UNESCO, during the 19th session of the Committee held in Asuncion, Paraguay, between 2-7 December 2024.
The element Nawrouz, Novruz, Nowrouz, Nowrouz, Nawrouz, Nauryz, Nooruz, Nowruz, Navruz, Nevruz, Nowruz, Navruz’ was first inscribed on the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity in 2009 as multi-national nomination of 12 countries including Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, India, the Islamic Republic of Iran, Iraq, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Türkiye, and Turkmenistan with the initiative of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
This spring festival helps to foster mutual understanding among ethnic groups, and most importantly, promotes cultural diversity and bonds between nature and humans. Nauryz is a set of attributes as tangible and intangible cultural heritage of the Kazakh people in Mongolia. It is an interconnected symbol of the respect, belief, and inspiration shared by individuals, groups and communities.
