H.E. Mr. Ts.Munkh-Orgil, Minister fo Foreign Affairs of Mongolia, met Mr. Rex Tillerson, US Secretary of State, on June 13, 2017.

At the meeting, Minister Ts.Munkh-Orgil stressed that the bilateral relations between Mongolia and the United States is actively developing in the areas of political and defence cooperation, and highlighted that it is important to further strengthen the relations by increasing the trade and investment cooperation.

He expressed the willingness to utilize all the potentials to increase the US investment by implementing the documents, such as the Transparency Agreement, which entered into force recently; and invited US businesses to join in. The Minister also stressed the significance of strengthening educational, cultural and people-to-people links between the two nations.

Secretary R.Tillerson expressed his satisfaction that the Foreign Minister is paying a visit within the margins of the 30^th-anniversary commemorations of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries. He noted that Mongolia finds itself between the two global powers and possess a strategically important access to significant markets; and stressed the importance of developing an own economic advantage. The State Secretary appreciated Mongolia’s continued participation at the “Resolute Support” mission in Afghanistan. Also, the two sides exchanged views on matters of regional and multilateral interest.

The visit of Foreign Minister Ts. Munkh-Orgil to the United States is the first ministerial level visit of Mongolian side since the new Governments were formed in the two countries. The visit was an important occasion to introduce to high-ranking officials of the U.S. and American investors the priorities of the Mongolian Government’s foreign policy and actions and to exchange views on further cooperation.
