Minister for Foreign Affairs of Mongolia Mr. Tsend Munkh-Orgil met the Ambassador of the European Union to Mongolia Mr. Hans Dietmar Schweisgut.
During the meeting, the two sides exchanged views on the steps and further actions following the Foreign Minister Tsend Munkh-Orgil’s recent visit to the European Union. They also elaborated on the upcoming project on “Trade related assistance to Mongolia”. As agreed during the Joint Committee meeting held last March in Ulaanbaatar, both sides discussed plans to improve budget management and utilize 2014-2020 development cooperation funds as a sectoral budget support starting from 2018.
Prior to the meeting, Foreign Minister Tsend Munkh-Orgil presented Ambassador Hans Dietmar Schwesgut the state award “Order of the Polar Star” issued by the Decree of the President of Mongolia in recognition of the Ambassador’s efforts to develop and strengthen the bilateral relations between Mongolia and the European Union. While presenting the award Foreign Minister Tsend Munkh-Orgil noted that not only this award recognizes Ambassador Schweisgut’s efforts to enhance bilateral relations, but also it reflects the high significance that Mongolia attaches to the development relations with the European Union.
The Delegation of the European Union organized the “Europe day” for the first time in Mongolia at the premises of the German Embassy in Ulaanbaatar as this year marks the 60th anniversary of the signing of the Treaties of Rome, a key document to establish today’s European Union.
