During the 60th Munich Security Conference, Minister of Foreign Affairs Battsetseg Batmunkh met with several female foreign ministers on February 17, 2024.
Female foreign ministers from 10 countries attended the meeting, which has been organized on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly and other international conferences. The ministers exchanged views on issues such as international governance, armed conflicts, climate change, trade, and ways to overcome international and regional challenges.
Foreign Minister Battsetseg invited the attendees to the World Women’s Forum to be organized in Ulaanbaatar in August 2024, upon the initiative of the President of Mongolia.
In addition, at the initiative of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Mongolia, the ministers decided to create a “Network of Women Foreign Ministers” so that they would be in regular contact and work actively together.
The ministers exchanged views on the protection of the rights of women and children in Afghanistan and issued a joint statement at the end of the meeting.
