The 48th Annual Meeting of Ministers for Foreign Affairs of the Group of 77 and China took place on in New York 27 September 2024.
At the opening session of the meeting, chaired by Hon. Gen. A. Odongo, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uganda, opening remarks were delivered by H.E. Philemon Yang, President of the 79th session of the UN General Assembly, and H.E. António Guterres, UN Secretary-General.
The Foreign Ministers of Member States engaged in discussions covering a wide range of social, economic, and sustainable development issues within the framework of the United Nations. The session also focused on the Group’s role in supporting the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, including innovative financing mechanisms and opportunities to accelerate progress toward achieving the Agenda’s goals.
In her statement, H.E. Ms. B. Battsetseg, Minister for Foreign Affairs, emphasized that the solidarity of the Group is more crucial than ever to effectively uphold multilateralism. She highlighted key actions and initiatives undertaken by Mongolia at the national, regional, and international levels, demonstrating the country’s commitment to collective efforts.
The meeting concluded with the adoption of the Joint Ministerial Declaration, marking the Sixtieth Anniversary of the Group’s establishment.
