The inaugural ceremony of the Honorary Consulate of Mongolia in Canada’s Quebec province held on 21st March, 2017 in Montreal.
Ambassador Radnaabazar Altangerel, Mr.Jean–Stéphane Bernard, Deputy Minister for International relations and the Francophonie , Mr. Henri-Paul Normandin, Director of International Relations of Municipal Government of Montreal, General and Honorary Consuls, Quebec Government officials, representatives of Mongolian community, Quebec business and media were present at the opening ceremony.
Ambassador R.Altangerel, Mr.Jean–Stéphane Bernard, Deputy Minister for International relations and the Francophonie, and Mr. Henri-Paul Normandin, Director of International Relations of Municipal Government of the Montreal made opening remarks and Ambassador officially handed over to Mr.Paul B.Lemay, the Seal of Honorary Consul, the state flag, and the exequatur issued by the Government of Canada and wished him well in successfully discharging his duties.
Ambassador emphasized that the priority of the Honorary Consul is to protect the legal rights of mongolians and highlighted the role he would play in developing the partnership relations between Mongolia and Canada, in promoting the country of Mongolia and in encouraging the business cooperation.
Mr.Jean–Stéphane Bernard, Deputy Minister for International relations and the Francophonie and Mr.Henri-Paul Normandin, Director of International Relations of the Municipal Government of Montreal have expressed their confidence that opening the Honorary Consulate of Mongolia in Quebec, which is highly influential province in Canada in terms of trade, economy and culture, will contribute to the development of cooperation between two countries and expressed their willingness to provide support to the Consulate to carry out its duties.
About 500 Mongolians live in Quebec, and entities like Mongolian community, Mongolia-Canada Education and Culture Center, Mongolian language centers are operating in this province.
