H.E. MS. BATTSETSEG BATMUNKH, MINISTER FOR FOREIGN AFFAIRS IS OPENED THE NOMADIC CORNER AT UNESCAP HEADQUARTERS IN BANGKOK

Minister for Foreign Affairs Battsetseg Batmunkh, who is attending the 80th Session of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UN ESCAP), opened the Nomadic Corner, organized by the Embassy of Mongolia to the  Kingdom of Thailand in Bangkok on 22 April, 2024. The purpose of the corner is to promote nomadic lifestyle and heritage.

 

At the opening event, Battsetseg Batmunkh, the Foreign Minister and Armida Alisjahbana, Executive Secretary of UN ESCAP delivered speeches, and honored guests were in attendance. It should be noted that the corner was decorated with a Mongolian ger, emphasizing sustainability and the use of renewable energy sources. This  included showcasing the heritage and patterns of nomadic culture. The nomadic corner was organized for the first time at UNESCAP in Bangkok, Thailand.

Annually, around 3,000 international conferences, meetings and events are held at the UN headquarters in Bangkok. The city also hosts the Asia-Pacific branches of the UN and more than 30 of its specialized and international organizations.
