The Permanent Under Secretary Simon McDonald participating in the Mongolia-UK Round Table meeting paid a courtesy call on Minister for Foreign Affairs Ts.Munkh-Orgil on April 26, 2017. Both sides exchanged views on current situation and future direction of bilateral ties, regional issues of mutual interest as well as cooperation in the multilateral fora.
During the meeting, Minister Ts.Munkh-Orgil expressed gratitude the British Government for granting scholarships to Mongolian students through the Chevening Scholarship Scheme and underlined the importance of increasing the number of students studying in the UK on scholarships as bilateral relations develop further. Permanent Under Secretary highlighted that the UK was the first Western country to establish diplomatic relations with Mongolia and thanked Mongolia for its efforts and active role in global peacekeeping.
Both sides expressed their satisfaction over cooperation in mining, energy and communications fields and agreed to enhance bilateral trade and economic cooperation.
