H.E. Mr. Ts.Munkh-Orgil, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Mongolia met the Honourable Geoff Regan, Speaker of the House of Commons of Canada, who is paying an official visit to Mongolia upon the invitation of the Chairman of the State Great Hural of Mongolia.
During the meeting, Foreign Minister Munkh-Orgil highlighted Canada as world-leading mining nation with sound expertise in this field, and a leading investor and partner of Mongolia.
Minister Munkh-Orgil noted that although the mining sector has an important place within the bilateral relations between the countries, Mongolian side is keen to strengthen the cooperation in the areas of agriculture, public health management, and education.
The Honorable Geoff Regan expressed appreciation for the warm hospitality extended to his delegation and highlighted that Mongolia and Canada have many similarities. The Speaker noted that Canada is keen to share its expertise and achievements in the fields of mining, agriculture and other sectors.
Within the margins of the visit, Minister Munkh-Orgil and Canadian Ambassador to Mongolia H.E. Mr. Ed Jager have signed the Inter-governmental Agreement between Mongolia and Canada for the Promotion and Protection of Investments.
Parties underlined that the Agreement will benefit Mongolian people, make important contribution towards encouraging Canadian investment to Mongolia, and lead to prosperity.
The visit by the Speaker of the House of Commons of Canadian Parliament to Mongolia plays a vital role in continuing the parliamentary and high-level exchanges between the countries.
