FOREIGN MINISTER MEETS THE ACTING ASSISTANT SECRETARY

H.E. Mr. D. Tsogtbaatar, Minister for Foreign Affairs, met Mr. Patrick Murphy, Acting Assistant Secretary of State for East Asia and the Pacific Affairs, on September 21, 2018, and exchanged views on the matters of bilateral cooperation, as well as regional and global issues of mutual interest.

Both sides expressed their satisfaction with the ongoing successful visit of H.E. Mr. U. Khurelsukh, the Prime Minister of Mongolia, to the United States.

The two sides mutually noted that as a result of the Prime Minister’s visit several important events took place, which would give an important impetus to the bilateral relations, such as elevation of the relationships into the level of the Expanded Comprehensive Partnership, an agreement to pursue the “Roadmap for expanded economic partnership between Mongolia and the United States of America”, signing of the MCC’s $350 Million Second Compact Agreement. Both sides expressed their commitments to further expand the bilateral relations and cooperation.

Mr. Murphy thanked Mongolia for its support and contribution towards the process of denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula; and congratulated Mongolian Armed Forces with the distinguished service in Afghanistan. Also, he expressed gratitude for the Mongolian Government’s decision to provide assistance to those, who affected by the hurricane Florence.

Minister D. Tsogtbaatar affirmed Mongolia’s commitment towards global peace and stability; and expressed a desire to collaborate with the partners, such as the U.S. and contribute to the efforts of the international community.
