H.E. Mr. D. Tsogtbaatar, Minister for Foreign Affairs, met with Mr.M.Pompeo, U.S. Secretary of State, Mr. T.Shannon, Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs, and Mrs. S.Thornton, Acting Assistant Secretary of State for East Asian and Pacific Affairs, on May 21, 2018, and exchanged views on expanding and strengthening the bilateral relations and cooperation between Mongolia and the U.S.
During the meeting, both sides reconfirmed their commitment toward the partnership between Mongolia and the U.S., based on shared values and common strategic interests, and exchanged views on issues of regional and multilateral cooperation, including the Korean Peninsula, the Second Compact Agreement, to be concluded between the Government of Mongolia and the MCC, as well as, other matters of bilateral cooperation.
On the same day, Minister D.Tsogtbaatar visited the School of Advanced International Studies of the Johns Hopkins University, and made a presentation on the theme “The Changing World: The Changing Role of Small Countries”. He also conducted Q&A session, related to the Mongolian foreign policy and recent development in the region. Over 80 people attended the event, including academics, researchers, students, representatives of the Government as well as the Washington D.C. Diplomatic Corps.
