Minister for Foreign Affairs of Mongolia, H.E. Mr. Tsogtbaatar Damdin is in Washington DC on July 25-26, 2018 to attend the Ministerial to Advance Religious Freedom. While in Washington DC, Foreign Minister Tsogtbaatar met with Co-chair of the Congressional Mongolia Caucus Congresswoman Dina Tits and Congressman Ted Yoho to exchange views on Mongolia, US bilateral relations and cooperation.
Congressman Ted Yoho and Congresswoman Dina Titus commended Mongolia’s democracy, its devotion to democratic values and expressed readiness to continue supporting Mongolia’s development efforts. They further informed that the “Mongolia Third Neighbor Trade Act” to offer Mongolian textile product’s tariff free preferential access into the U.S. market will soon be introduced to the Congress.
Foreign Minister Tsogtbaatar reaffirmed the US’ role as one of Mongolia’s important third neighbor and a close partner. He further expressed his appreciation for this important bipartisan effort and acknowledged that the bill will not only support Mongolia’s economic development and increase jobs, but will also stimulate Mongolia-U.S. trade and economic cooperation.
This important piece of legislation is a first step of an initiative for tariff preference for U.S. imports of Mongolian textiles proposed by President Kh. Battulga to President D. Trump.
