In the framework of the 28th Session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP28), the Group of 77 and China convened the Leaders’ Summit on December 2, 2023 in Dubai, UAE.
The high-level officials of the Group of 77 and China exchanged views on the issues to be addressed during the COP28 and discussed a wide range of issues including comprehensive assessment of the Paris Agreement, solutions for loss and damage, increasing finance, climate change mitigation and adaptation, and reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
Foreign Minister B.Battsetseg emphasized that climate change negatively impacts the world and limits the opportunities for development of countries, especially in developing countries. The Minister also presented the policies and activities taken by the Government of Mongolia.
Minister B.Battsetseg highlighted the importance of women’s leadership and participation in creating a stable society with equal opportunities as girls and women are greatly affected by climate change. The Foreign Minister underscored that Mongolia is planning to host the World Women’s Forum in 2024 to discuss the issues of climate change.
