The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ms. Battsetseg Batmunkh, received Ms. Olga Dzhumaeva, Head of the East Asia Delegation at the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC), on March 11, 2024, and exchanged views on bilateral cooperation.
During the meeting, Foreign Minister B. Battsetseg expressed her gratitude for the IFRC’s international humanitarian efforts and praised the organization’s great support for the activities of the Mongolian Red Cross Society.
She expressed Mongolia’s gratitude to the IFRC for its contribution of 459,250 CHF, benefiting 1,900 herder families, and to the EU for its donation of 500 million USD, aiding 1,850 herder families through the Disaster Response Fund.
Ms. Olga Jumaeva emphasized that the cooperation between the two sides has been expanding in recent years, and the activities of the Mongolian Red Cross Society have been strengthened. She also expressed that the IFRC will continue to work to increase assistance to overcome the current dzud challenges.
During her stay in Mongolia, Ms. Olga Jumaeva will work in Dornod and Sukhbaatar provinces, which are the most affected provinces by the dzud disaster in Mongolia.
