Minister of Foreign Affairs B.Battsetseg met with Thailand political and business representatives as part of her official visit to the Kingdom of Thailand.

In her opening speech, Minister B.Battsetseg noted the steady development and progress of friendly relations and cooperation between Mongolia and Thailand over the past five decades and highlighted the recent intensive growth in bilateral trade, investment, and economic cooperation, underlining the important role of the Joint Trade Committee and the Business Council.

The Minister emphasized that with the establishment of direct seasonal flights between the two countries, in 2023 alone, the number of Mongolian citizens who visited Thailand increased by 59 percent, while the number of Thai citizens visiting Mongolia doubled.

Furthermore, she noted that during her visit, the two sides have reached several important decisions such as finalizing the drafts of Intergovernmental agreements, that will give an important impetus to strengthening the legal framework and bolstering economic cooperation. Minister B.Battsetseg expressed her commitment to further strengthen cooperation in many areas including tourism, agriculture, communication, and innovation.

The meeting was attended by over 70 representatives including Government officials, entrepreneurs, and investors from major companies, led by the President of the Senate of the Kingdom of Thailand Mr. Poonpet Wichitcholchai, Vice Minister for Office of the Prime Minister Mr. Umesh Pandey and Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Mr. Sihasak Thuanketkou.

During the meeting, Minister B.Battsetseg bestowed the “Friendship” medal upon Mr. Anusak Kongmalai, Senator and Chairperson of Thailand-Mongolia Parliamentary Friendship Group, in recognition of his contributions to the advancement of friendly relations and cooperation between the two countries.
