Foreign Minister B.Battsetseg met with representatives of Mongolian students studying in Australia under the Australia Awards scholarship program.
The Australia Awards scholarship program was commenced in 1993 under the framework of the Memorandum of Understanding between the Governments of Mongolia and Australia on Development Cooperation. This year marks the 30th anniversary of Mongolia’s participation in the Australia Awards scholarship program, during which over 700 Mongolian students have successfully taken part. From of all the program graduates, 66 percent are women, and 34 percent are men. Currently, 50 percent of them are employed in the public sector, while the remaining 50 percent work in the private sector and civil society organizations.
Earlier during the officials talks with her counterpart, the Minister proposed to increase the quota of Australia Awards recipients from this year as it has been contributing immensely to socio-economic development and the capacity building of human resources of Mongolia.
