H.E. Mrs. B. Battsetseg, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Mongolia, addressed the 10th Conference of the Communities of Democracies, held online on September 22, 2021, at the margins of the 76th Session of the UN General Assembly.
H.E. Mr. Abdulla Shahid, President of the 76th Session of the UN General Assembly, Mrs. Rosemary A. DiCarlo, UN Under-Secretary for Political Affairs and Peacebuilding Affairs, and delegates from over 100 countries attended the 10th Ministerial Conference, which was convened under the theme “Democracy and Resilience: Shared Goals” and adopted an Ministerial Declaration.
In her statement, Foreign Minister B. Battsetseg highlighted that as a full-pledged member of the Community of Democracies, Mongolia respects and upholds the core democratic values, principles, and standards enshrined in the Warsaw Declaration, mentioning that democracy in Mongolia remains strong and stable despite the mounting challenges related to the COVID-19 pandemic and remains fully committed to promote good governance at all levels of government through developing effective, accountable, and transparent institutions and more responsive, inclusive, participatory, and representative decision-making processes.
Furthermore, the minister informed that Mongolia successfully administered its eighth presidential election during the difficult times of the COVID-19 pandemic and started the substantive reforms to contribute to the government stability and accountability, judicial independence, efficient local governance and equitable resource management in line with the 2019 constitutional amendments.
