On 25 September, on the margins of the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly, the “Feminist Foreign Policy+ Group” organized its annual high-level side event under the theme “Galvanizing the Pact for the Future for a Feminist Implementation of the 2030 Agenda”.
The side event gathered Foreign Ministers, Deputy Foreign Ministers and Ambassadors of countries with Feminist Foreign Policies and other countries with feminist-inspired policymaking, such as Albania, Argentina, Belgium, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, France, Germany, Israel, Liberia, Luxembourg, Mexico, Mongolia, Rwanda, Spain, The Netherlands and Tunisia, as well as UN officials including Ms. Sima Bahous, UN-Women Executive Director, and prominent representatives of civil society and academia.
During the event, the Ministers reaffirmed their political commitments to feminist foreign policy, emphasized the need to foster the full, equal and meaningful participation and leadership of women in decision-making processes, and to eliminate all forms of violence against women and girls, including in the digital environment and issued a succinct Political Declaration.
H.E. Mrs. Battsetseg Batmunkh, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Mongolia, delivered a statement at this high-level event sharing Mongolia’s recent achievements and experience in improving gender equality and increasing representation and participation of women at decision-making level.
Participants of the event commended the results of the World Women’s Forum held in Mongolia on 22-23 August 2024.
