Deputy Prime Minister of Mongolia Mr. S. Amarsaikhan delivered opening remarks at the 6th Summit of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA), which took place on October 12-13, 2022 in Astana, Republic of Kazakhstan.
The Deputy Prime Minister extended his congratulations to delegates attending the Summit on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of establishment of CICA. Furthermore, he highlighted that the release of the “Astana Statement on CICA Transformation” reflecting the forum’s next development goals enables a new chapter for cooperation, thereby strengthening its role in the international arena.
Furthermore, Deputy Prime Minister Mr. S. Amarsaikhan elaborated on Mongolia’s position in regard to pressing international and regional issues, as well as its policies and activities aimed at achieving social, economic and sustainable development goals within the framework of Mongolia’s Foreign Policy and New Recovery Policy.
During the Summit it was decided that Kazakhstan would continue to chair the CICA between 2022-2024 and reappointed Mr. Kairat Sarybai, a Kazakhstani citizen, to serve as CICA’s Executive Director. In addition, Kuwait was submitted to CICA as a new member state.
