Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs of Mongolia Mrs. B.Battsetseg attended the Inter-Regional Conference on Preventing and Countering Violent Extremism and Radicalization that lead to Terrorism which was held by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea in co-operation with the Transnational Threats Department of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) on April 19-20 in Seoul.
Addressing the conference plenary session, Deputy Minister Mrs.Battsetseg presented Mongolian government policy, initiatives and actions being taken against terrorism threat. She pointed out that activities on preventing and countering violent extremism and radicalization that lead to terrorism have to be tackled by means of joint efforts and building a regional cooperation mechanism.
Furthermore, Deputy Foreign Minister proposed to host the Inter-regional Conference in Mongolia in 2019 on the occasion of the 15th anniversary of establishment of the National Counter-Terrorism Coordinative Council of Mongolia.
During the Conference, Deputy Minister Mrs.Battsetseg met with Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea Mr. Hyun Cho to exchange views on bilateral relations and cooperation.
The conference which was convened first time in Asia brought together over 150 delegates from OSCE member-states, international organizations and academia.
