“BUSINESS AND HUMAN RIGHTS” MULTISTAKEHOLDERS MEETING WAS HELD

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Mongolia and UNDP’s Business and Human Rights (B+HR) Asia Programme, supported by the European Union, co-organized a multi-stakeholder meeting on “Business and Human Rights” on March 29, 2024.

The meeting brought together a diverse group of participants from the public and private sectors, including businesses, business associations, development partners, civil society organizations, and academic institutions, and the participants held an interesting discussion on business and human rights.

As part of the goal of effective implementation of the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights, the Government of Mongolia has adopted the “National action plan to respect and protect human rights, prevent, identify, and remedy human rights abuses committed in business operations (2023 – 2027)” on 14 June 2023.

Representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Justice and Home Affairs, Ministry of Labor and Social Protection, and Ministry of Food, Agriculture, and Light Industry presented the current state of implementation of the NAPBHR and its opportunities and challenges.

The successful implementation of the NAPBHR depends on the active participation and initiative of all stakeholders. It is also essential for the government, businesses, and civil society organizations to achieve a common understanding.
