AUSTRALIAN GOVERNMENT TO RENDER HUMANITARIAN ASSISTANCE

The Prime Minister of Mongolia L.Oyun-Erdene received Her Excellency Katie Smith, Ambassador of the Commonwealth of Australia to Mongolia on 5 March 2024.

During the meeting Ambassador Smith presented an official letter outlining the Australian Government’s decision to provide humanitarian assistance worth 250,000 Australian dollars in response to Mongolia’s challenges with dzud disaster, emphasizing its close partnership with Mongolia as its third neighbor.

Prime Minister L.Oyun-Erdene extended sincere gratitude, on behalf of the Mongolian Government and its people, to both the Australian Government and its citizens for extending humanitarian aid to mitigate the disaster. He also underscored that the Government of Mongolia is taking necessary actions and measures to swiftly overcome the crisis.

Furthermore, both parties reiterated their commitment to elevate the existing level of bilateral relations and to broaden and strengthen cooperation across various domains including trade, economy, investment, mining, energy, culture, and education. They also exchanged views on some regional and international issues.

The contribution will be channeled through the Mongolian and Australian Red Cross.
