AMBASSADOR TULGA NARKHUU VISITED AT THE PARKER LIBRARY, CORPUS CHRISTI COLLEGE, UNIVERSITY OF CAMBRIDGE

As part of the Government’s decision to establish the “Chinggis Khaan” Museum, Ambassador of Mongolia to the United Kingdom Tulga Narkhuu visited the University of Cambridge on 04 November 2020 and held meetings with the Master of Corpus Christi College Professor Christopher Kelly, Director of the Parker Library Dr Philippa Hoskin and Director of Mongolia and Inner Asia Studies Unit Professor David Sneath.

During the meeting, the Ambassador viewed the manuscripts of William Rubruk’s journey, and of John de Plano Carpini’s journey being stored at the Parker Library, and discussed the possibility of receiving the facsimiles of these historical documents and sources related to Mongolian history and heritage and displaying them in the “Chinggis Khaan” Museum of Mongol Khans. The Parker Library has expressed their willingness to transfer the copy ownership rights to the Mongolian side.

The Parker Library is the College’s greatest national heritage treasure. It is internationally renowned for its important collection of Medieval and Renaissance manuscripts, as well as valuable holdings of early printed books. It is one of the most significant surviving Renaissance libraries in Europe.
