Ambassador of Mongolia to the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, His Excellency Mr. Enkhsukh Battumur presented his Letter of Credentials to the Secretary-General of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) Mr. Kitack Lim on 16th May 2022.

During the meeting, Ambassador B.Enkhsukh informed Secretary-General Kitack Lim that Mongolia has acceded to more than 30 international conventions in the field of maritime law, and the Government of Mongolia has approved a specific plan to harmonize national laws and regulations with international maritime conventions. He also highlighted that the revised draft Maritime Law of Mongolia is under review at the Parliament of Mongolia.

Furthermore Ambassador B.Enkhsukh and Secretary-General Kitack Lim exchanged views on technical cooperation in reforming Mongolia’s maritime legislation and enhancing capacity building in the field and expressed their willingness to increase Mongolia’s participation in the IMO’s activities.

Secretary-General Kitack Lim congratulated Ambassador B.Enkhsukh on his appointment as Permanent Representative and informed possible areas for technical assistance to Mongolia.
