JOINT STEERING COMMITTEE OF THE GOVERNMENT OF MONGOLIA AND THE UNITED NATIONS CONVENES TO REVIEW THE PROGRESS OF THE UN SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT COOPERATION FRAMEWORK 2023-2027

The Extended Meeting of the Joint Steering Committee of the Government of Mongolia and the United Nations (UN) for the UN Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework (UNSDCF) 2023-2027, led by the co-chairs, the State Secretaries of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ministry of Economy and Development, and the UN Resident Coordinator, was held on 28 March 2024 at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.  The representatives of development partners were invited as observers to the meeting as well.

The members of the Joint Steering Committee exchanged views on the implementation of the Cooperation Framework, highlighting the progress made in 2023, the work plan for 2024, the UN Joint program proposals and future focus areas.

In 2023, the UN system in Mongolia implemented 158 programs and projects with funding of USD 51.5 million in the strategic priorities of ensuring human development and well-being, supporting green, inclusive, and sustainable growth, and upholding people-centered governance, rule of law, and human rights.

During the meeting, the members recommended the UN agencies to coordinate their operations and financial resources to make the efforts more impactful in coherent with national development policies, priorities and needs of Mongolia.
