SIDE-EVENT FEMINIST FOREIGN POLICY+ GROUP IS HELD DURING THE HIGH-LEVEL WEEK OF THE 78TH SESSION OF THE UN GENERAL ASSEMBLY

Within the margins of the High-level week of the 78th session of the United Nations General Assembly, a side-event of the Feminist Foreign Policy+ Group was held on 20th September 2023.

The side event was attended by the foreign ministers of countries committed to feminist foreign policies, including Germany, Spain, Mexico, Mongolia, the Netherlands, Rwanda, Chile, France, Canada, Mexico, Belgium, Colombia and Argentina. The participants discussed activities, challenges and opportunities, goals within the feminist foreign policy framework.

Furthermore, the participants commended the outcome of the Female Foreign Ministers’ Meeting convened in Ulaanbaatar last June by the initiative of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Mongolia, H.E.Ms.B.Battsetseg.

Ms. Amina Mohammed, Deputy Secretary-General of the UN, Ms.Sima Bahous, Executive Director of the UN-Women, as well as prominent civil society representatives and researchers participated in the event and delivered their remarks.

At the event, the member states adopted a declaration renewing their commitment to the feminist principles in relation to foreign policy.

Feminist Foreign Policy+ group was established in January 2022 by the initiative of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Sweden. Currently the group has 19 members. Mongolia joined the group this year.
